Description

This workshop explores co-regulation in neurodivergent families, focusing on strategies for managing stress, building trust, and supporting emotional wellbeing. We discuss the role of the amygdala in emotional responses, the difference between co-regulation and co-escalation, and how shared activities can strengthen connection. The session highlights the importance of patience, open communication, and recognising personal triggers to create safe and supportive family environments.

Key topics include using breathing exercises and grounding games, creating co-regulation “menus” of support options, practicing calm routines, and introducing sensory comfort strategies. Parents will gain practical tools to help young people manage overwhelming emotions, prevent shutdowns or meltdowns, and build stronger family relationships.
