Training for parents and parent carer forums
As a parent or caregiver, you play a crucial role in providing the love, support, and understanding that can make a significant difference to your young people. Understanding the unique challenges and needs of autistic children and young people is essential in helping them thrive and reach their full potential.
This training is designed specifically for parents and parent carer forums, providing you with valuable insights, practical strategies, and resources to support autistic children and young people in their journey. Whether you are new to autism or have been on this journey for a while, we aim to empower you with knowledge, skills, and a supportive community.
Throughout this training, we will explore various aspects of the autistic experience in a neurodivergent-affirming way, looking at sensory sensitivities, communication differences, and social interactions with an insight into the Double Empathy Problem. By gaining a deeper understanding of these areas, you will be better equipped to create an inclusive and nurturing environment for your child or the children you care for.
By participating in this training, you are taking a proactive step toward becoming an even more effective advocate and ally for your autistic child or the children you care for. Help create a world that embraces neurodiversity and ensures that every autistic child and young person is given the opportunity to thrive.
The Hampshire Parent Carer Network reached out to The Autistic Girls Network to help support parent carers across Hampshire to develop and build their knowledge further to help them feel less isolated. It was very important to us to not only have a neuroaffirming speaker but also someone with lived experience and Cathy delivers that in every way. Her popular workshop provided a relaxed and informative evening of how best to support our young people with real strategies that can be actioned the next day and we will be looking forward to inviting The Autistic Girls Network to do more with us in the very near future.
