On a personal level, we think my wife and daughter are both autistic; my daughter is starting on a diagnosis journey. It was interesting to hear so many things that confirmed we are on the right path. In my work for Croydon Music & Arts, I honed in on the clubs/activities for autistic girls comments. Taking part in a musical ensemble is great for autistic girls, enabling them to make friends with girls of similar interests, take part in a team without a high level of social interaction required. We already have a number of autistic girls in our ensembles but I wonder if we should be promoting our activity particularly to this cohort. It’s certainly gives our neurodivergent family a sense of well-being.
